Având în vedere faptul că din ce în ce mai multe cunoştinţe şi studenţi de la cursurile mele de formare în calculatoare mă contactează zi şi noapte să mă întrebe diferite probleme legate de calculatoare şi pentru că toate explicaţiile necesită un timp extrem de lung alocat  tuturor acestor explicaţii, m-am hotărât să dedic articolele din această secţiune celor care doresc să înveţe rapid şi eficient cum să lucreze cu calculatorul. Sunt lucruri simple dar extrem de utile pentru toţi începătorii. Articolele nu se adresează specialiştilor! Citiţi cu atenţie toate explicaţiile. Ele sunt într-un limbaj simplu şi nu unul tehnic. Toţi puteţi să vă descurcaţi cu un calculator. Cu câteva noţiuni de bază însuşite în timp, veţi putea discuta cu orice expert în calculatoare folosind un limbaj adecvat.

More and more people and students coming to my computer courses ask day and night for help in dealing with the computer. Explanations are different and take a lot of time to understand. Therefore, I decided to write these articles for all those who want to learn rapid and efficient to deal with their computer. There are extremely useful things for all the beginners who want to deal with the computer. The articles are not for specialists! Read carefully all explanations. They are in a simple language not in a technical one. All of you can manage to work with a computer by passing time. With some basic knowledge you can talk with any computer expert using an appropriate language.

Foarte multă lume foloseşte calculatorul. Dar extrem de multe persoane nu ştiu să-l  deschidă sau să-l închidă şi apelează la soţi sau copii, lucru extrem de deranjant pentru ambele părţi. Dependenţa de o altă persoană este supărătoare şi pentru cel care vrea să înveţe şi nu ştie cum, sau are trac să nu strice ceva la calculator, cât şi pentru cel solicitat, care poate nu are timp sau chef să explice sau să arate aceleaşi comenzi de fiecare dată. Oricine poate învăţa să lucreze pe calculator, indiferent de vârstă. Important este să-i facă plăcere, să descopere utilitatea folosirii calculatorului şi să fie un pic autodidact, adică să-şi dozeze efortul de a învăţa aşa încât experienţa să nu devină o povară.

Many people use the computer. Unfortunately, many of them do not know how to open or close a computer; they still ask their husbands and wives or children to do this, which is extremely disturbing sometimes for all the parties. Being addicted of someone is really annoying both for the person who wants to learn and does not know how, and is scared not to damage the computer, and for the person who’s advice is asked, and who has no time or is in no mood to explain or to show same commands each time. Anyone can learn how to deal with the computer, no matter the age. It is important to like this, to discover the utility of the computer and to be a little self-taught, that means to divide your effort to learn in such a way the experience not to become a burden.

 

Imaginaţi-vă că pe timpuri circulam cu căruţa trasă de cai. Când a apărut maşina, oamenii au început să înveţe cum să o conducă. Acum mai toată lumea are carnet de conducere iar şofajul nu mai este o mare scofală. Sigur că la început toţi se uitau cu invidie sau cu veneraţie la noii şoferi, considerând că a conduce o maşină este cine ştie ce sofisticărie. Ei bine, cu timpul s-a dovedit că nu este. La fel s-a întâmplat şi cu trecerea de la scrisul cu pana la scrisul cu stiloul sau pixul. Totul se învaţă, mai greu sau mai uşor, dar până la urmă toţi învăţăm. Desigur că nu trebuie să fim toţi experţi în toate. Dar consideraţi calculatorul ca un urmaş al maşinii de scris. Sigur, veţi spune, eu nu am scris niciodată la maşina de scris. Atunci consideraţi calculatorul (cu tastatură cu tot) un fel de robot de bucătărie. Aşa cum cu robotul de bucătărie macin, amestec, toc, storc etc., tot aşa şi cu acest nou roboţel pot să  scriu, să calculez, să citesc cărţi, reviste, ziare, pot să vorbesc cu alţii ca şi cum aş vorbi la telefon (programele de chat), pot să văd filme (ca la televizor), pot să ascult muzică (precum la radio), pot să mă uit la pozele dragi mie (ca într-un album foto)... şi câte altele nu pot face. Şi ca orice aparatură folosită în bucătărie, pe care o spăl şi o îngrijesc ca să mă pot folosi de ea şi altă dată, şi  pe acest roboţel  îl îngrijesc ca atare. O să vă învăţ cum. Nu râdeţi, am auzit multă lume spunând că îl şterge doar de praf. Ei bine, nu! O să vă explic mai încolo.

Imagine that in the past we used the carriage and the horses. When the first car was launched people begun to learn how to drive it. Now, almost everyone is a driver, while driving is no more a big deal. Of course at the beginning all looked with envy or veneration to the new drivers, considering the driving as a sophisticated thing. Well, by passing time, this proved not to be like this. Same happened with the writing with feather and ink, pen and pencil. You may consider the computer (with its keyboard as well) as a kind of a kitchen robot. The same tasks the kitchen robot does, the same this new small robot can do for you, meaning you can type, calculate, read books, magazines, newspapers, you can talk with others as talking over the phone (chat program), you can see movies (as in the TV), you may listen to music (as in the Radio), you can look the family pictures (as in the Photo Album)… and so many other things. And as any other device you use in the kitchen, which i clean and maintain to be able to use it some other time, you should do the same for this small robot. I shall teach you how. Do not laugh. I heard a lot of people that just dust the computer. Well, no! I shall explain you later on how to clean properly your own computer.

Ce trebuie să înţelegeţi legat de calculator:

• cunoaşterea calculatorului reprezintă o necesitate în zilele noastre
• folosirea calculatorului uşurează munca de zi cu zi mai ales dacă sunteţi încă în câmpul muncii
• cu ajutorul calculatorului aveţi acces la foarte multe informaţii din toate domeniile posibile
• calculatorul înseamnă independenţă, cunoaştere, rezolvare rapidă a multor întrebări

What you should understand related to the computer:

• knowing the computer is a necessary task now-a-days
• using the computer facilitates your daily work especially if you are still active in this field
• by the help of the computer you have access to all information in all fields
• computer means freedom, knowledge, rapid settlement of all your questions

Câteva sfaturi utile:

1. Învăţaţi tastatura (tastele de bază, tastele duble, tastele numerice, ce înseamnă led-urile aprinse sau stinse).
2. Învăţaţi să ţineţi un mouse în mână şi familiarizaţi-vă cu mişcarea lui pe pad (acea bucată colorată de materiat special pe care se mişcă mouse-ul de obicei).
3. Învăţaţi să nu puneţi mâna, sau degetul, sau pixul pe monitorul calculatorului (mai cu seamă pe cel al unui laptop) pentru că aşa cum în viaţa de zi cu zi este urât să arătaţi cu degetul spre ceva sau cineval, la fel şi pentru calculator este un gest vătămător.
4. Învăţaţi simbolurile internaţionale pentru power, enter, backspace, slash, back slash, delete, print scree, page up, page down, Fn, spacebar etc.
5. Nu lăsaţi ca doi aşa-zişi “specialişti” diferiţi să se ocupe de calculatorul vostru, pentru că întotdeauna vor fi două păreri contrare care vă vor bulversa.
6. Când un program merge bine în calculatorul vostru, nu-l schimbaţi doar de dragul mondenului, sau pentru că v-a dat altcineva o sugestie că toţi au făcut la fel; faceţi această schimbare numai după ce deveniţi cât de cât stăpân pe cunoştinţele voastre.
7. Nu bateţi cu forţă pe tastatură, sub ea se află circuite care se pot deteriora în timp. Bateţi elegant chiar şi cu două degete (folosiţi de obicei degetul arătător) şi nu folosiţi degetele din mijloc pentru că în unele ţări reprezintă un gest obscen.
8. Încercaţi să “furaţi” orice informaţie pe care o primiţi legat de calculatoare şi chiar dacă nu vi s-a explicat informaţia, căutaţi explicaţia prin întrebări sau pe Internet.
9. Încercaţi să vă descurcaţi în limba engleză şi chiar dacă nu cunoaşteţi limbi străine, învăţaţi terminologia de bază direct din limba sursă şi nu după traduceri “după ureche” făcute de tot felul de “specialişti” şi chiar publicate în unele cărţi de învăţare calculator.
10. Începeţi cu începutul şi nu pe sărite, pentru că lipsa de informaţii nu suplineşte dorinţa de a învăţa rapid.

Some useful tips:

1. Learn the keyboard (basic keys, double keys, numerical keys, what means light on/light off leds).
2. Learn to deal with your mouse and pad (that special colored material on which the mouse moves usually).
3. Learn not to put your hand, finger or pen on the screen (especially if you have a laptop); it is wrong to point the finger to someone in physical life, so it is a harmful gesture for the computer as well.
4. Learn the international symbols for power, enter, backspace, slash, back slash, delete, print screen, page up, page down, Fn, spacebar, etc.
5. Never let two so-called “experts” to maintain your computer, because they will have always two different opinions that will mix up your mind.
6. When something is really working in your computer, never change it just to be in fashion, or because someone suggested you to make some changes; do these changes only when you know how, when, and why.
7. Never type hard on the keyboard; it has fine circuits that might damage in time. Type with elegancy, use the point fingers and not the middle ones; in some countries this is a trivial gesture.
8. Try to “steal” any information in relation with the computers, and search on the Internet for answers, if the information was not explained to you by someone.
9. Try to manage in English language; even if you don’t know foreign languages, learn the terminology from English, and not from the bad translations made by all kind of “specialists” published even in some school books.
10. Begin with the basic topics, do not jump over the items; the lack of information does not replace your will to learn quickly.

Dacă alocaţi măcar 30 minute pe zi calculatorului, dacă citiţi cu atenţie materialele care vă interesează, dacă ascultaţi cu atenţie “gafele” făcute de alţii, precum şi sfaturile utile date de cineva de încredere, veţi vedea că folosirea calculatorului nu va mai constitui o povară sau ceva intangibil pentru voi.

If you work at least 30 minutes per day with your computer; if you read carefully the items which interest you; if you listen carefully all “mistakes” made by the others; if you listen to the useful tips given by someone trusty; you shall discover that computer is no longer a burden or something intangible for you.
